Sprinkling the Fragrance of the Teachings and Engaging in Salvation Work

We speak of "going out to do salvation work." Yet, who does the saving and who is saved? I want you to ponder these questions deeply. It is only God the Parent who saves.

I want you to recall that Oyasama's Divine Model for sprinkling the fragrance and saving people is totally devoid of any notion of throwing anyone out of Her heart.

In salvation work, we simply allow the flow of truth to reach others. In sprinkling the fragrance of the teachings, we are the ones who are taking the initiative to bring the teachings to others. In salvation work, it is God the Parent who bestows the blessings while we try to allow the truth of Oyasama to flow. In a sense, sprinkling the fragrance could be seen as similar to what a mail carrier does, the teachings we bring to others corresponding to the mail being delivered. Our role is to use our legs to go around sprinkling the fragrance on one person after another--in rather the same manner as a mail carrier does his or her rounds, delivering mail. Now, if by any chance the content of a letter helps bring someone back from the verge of death--or fails to do so--the mail carrier is neither praised nor blamed. Yet, the carrier can feel the joys and sorrows of whoever received the letter. Such, I think, is the joy of working for single-hearted salvation.
